Our Conductor

Shelly was born and raised in the Crowsnest Pass and took a liking to the violin early on in life. At 16 she moved to Medicine Hat to pursue her passion of music, and later attended Mount Royal University in Calgary for her Diploma in Music Performance, and the Glenn Gould School in Toronto for her Bachelor in Music Performance.

During her schooling she met and fell in love with her husband, Tynan Groves, a jazz guitarist, and is now raising their three children in the CNP.  She has since been teaching music from home, conducting the orchestra, playing in her band and working as an EA at a local school. She enjoys reading, swimming, biking, hanging out with her family, and gardening.
