Who Are We?
Mission Statement
Crowsnest Community Orchestra preserves the legacy of multigenerational orchestral music through education, enjoyment and the encouragement of performers and audience.
Our Orchestra
The Crowsnest Community Orchestra has been together in various formats since 1926 and is one of the most enduring amateur orchestras in Canada. Come join us! We're always looking for new members.
Members have been comprised of residents of Crowsnest Pass, Lundbreck, Cowley, Pincher Creek, Sparwood and Fernie. There may be opportunities to carpool to practice with other members. These surrounding communities are from a 5-30 minute drive depending on which area you live.
A founding value is to provide an opportunity for any musician to participate in a group setting playing music, creating new opportunities for them to perform live. The range of ages of members in the orchestra has spanned from 9 years old to over 80 years old. There are instruments available for rent, as well as options to learn from teachers in the community, and other accommodations available. We welcome musicians of any level, as long as you have some note reading skills.
We meet weekly from mid-September to mid-May on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30pm at Compass Fellowship Church in Blairmore. The orchestra presents a Christmas Concert in early December, usually in conjunction with the Crowsnest Community Choir, and then a spring concert in May. Additionally, the orchestra participates in the Crowsnest Pass Music Festival in March, which is a great community event.
